Abstract

Relevance. Today, we are all going through difficult times that have changed the life of every Ukrainian. The war brought losses, new meanings and challenges that manifest themselves on personal and societal levels.
Since an existential crisis usually occurs after some significant event or change in a person's life, this problem is especially relevant during war, when vitality is directly affected, and will be relevant after the end of hostilities. The consequences of collective trauma will affect the mental health of the Ukrainian population for a long time to come. Conducting research to solve this problem is critical for developing an effective strategy for providing support and assistance to young people in difficult periods of their lives.
Goal. Increase the effectiveness of medical and psychological care, based on the assessment of the impact of the existential crisis on the daily lives of young people who have been in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian military aggression.
Methods. The design was a randomized controlled trial with parallel groups. The study enrolled 20 individuals who met the inclusion criteria and underwent a randomization procedure and were accordingly divided into an intervention group and a control group. The toolkit that was used during the research included: Existence scale of A. Lengle (ESK); Quality of Life Rating Scale (CQLS); Spielberger-Hanin Reactive and Personality Anxiety Scale (STAI); Schwartz Value Questionnaire.
The results. After completion of the interventions, in the final control study, a significant difference was observed between the control and study groups. Comparison of research data on the 1st and 58th day of the study demonstrate qualitative changes in the three studied indicators, and show the effectiveness of the psychological intervention.
Conclusions. The results of this study confirm the effectiveness of methods of psychological intervention, as well as psychological interventions, which were used to overcome the existential crisis among young people during the war in Ukraine.
